We all know planning a wedding can be stressful, but it’s hard to be stressed once you imagine yourself in the beautiful venues and accommodations that are offered in this lovely corner of Cornwall. Whether you’re a local or from further afield, Tamar Valley will offer you the perfect spot for your wedding.

We’re sure you won’t need any more convincing after seeing these gorgeous photos, but if you do, have a look at this article on why the Westcountry is the perfect place for your wedding.

The Wedding Venue

We’ve put together a list of our top three favourite wedding venues in the Tamar Valley area, but there are many more options, catering to a whole range of tastes and budgets. In such a beautiful area, you really can’t go wrong.

1. Pentillie Castle

It’s hard to imagine anything more magical than getting married at a private castle! Pentillie Castle is a beautiful and ancient family home, licensed for civil ceremonies, and boasts fifty-five acres of woodland garden for the most breath-taking photo opportunities. What more could you ask for?

2. Moorland Garden Hotel

Want to get married in the fresh air of the Dartmoor National Park? Then the Moorland Garden Hotel might be the place for you. They are licensed to hold ceremonies in their beautiful Rose Arbour, and their experienced wedding team will make sure your special day goes smoothly, so you can relax and enjoy the view.

3. Honicombe Manor

Another historic option nestled in the lush countryside, Honicombe Manor in St Ann’s Chapel offers several majestic rooms for your ceremony and reception. Their wedding package includes outdoor games and leisure amenities if you stay overnight, perfect for a glorious summer wedding.

The Wedding Accommodation

Although some venues offer the option to stay on-site, more intimate gatherings – or if you simply want a touch of personal luxe at your wedding – might be suited to some private accommodation that the Tamar Valley has to offer.

Groups of eight can relax at the 200-year-old cottage Mariner’s House, with river views and a cosy wood-burning stove for the best Cornish evenings. Calstock, a friendly rural village, is just a few minutes’ drive from the gorgeous wedding venues above, and perfect for families ready to relax after the big day.

Located just next door, you might also be able to book Galleon House, this large property has everything you need to make the most out of your stay. A huge open plan kitchen/dining/living room with fireplace opens out to a large terrace for a great BBQ spot with river views.

Smaller groups should try the unique Okeltor Boathouse, a converted eighteenth-century granary on the banks of the Tamar, with its own slipway into the river. Dreamy after a hard day of dancing!

Wedding Party Catering

The Wedding Food

Again, some venues offer their own on-site catering options, but Cornwall is rife with local, artisan catering companies who bring the best of Cornwall to your wedding table.

Many caterers offer twists on your traditional wedding buffet – why not try a paella, or some sharing platters, or treat your wedding party to a proper cream tea – jam first, of course!

Cornish food is all about freshness and quality, as well as locality. Why not try the award-winning and aptly named Good Food Catering Co.? They provide a range of delicious options from barbecues and paellas to full buffets. Alternatively, try Little Gem Catering, who offer no-obligation tastings at their cosy quayside kitchen – as well as fantastic food on the day!
